I will say that
I was fascinated by it. So much so, that
I have contacted the transportation supervisor
that watches over the school district we
contract to and asked that he make arrangements
for a district wide/area wide "In-Service" for
all the drivers in our area. Not only did
this seminar provide some of the how, but
it explained "Why" as well.
Please tell Eddy and and the Doctor they
did an outstanding job. I would recommend
it to everyone who operates a fleet! |

I
have reviewed your work and consider
it
to be a bright, new avenue of explaining
that driving requires the full-time
attention,
planning and cool attitude of the driver
AND provides some methods to achieve/maintain
both. I have annotated some other thoughts
and suggestions onto the draft…I
look forward to reading the finished
work and
will use it as a law enforcement driver
training tool. Thank you for your efforts
to make driving safer and for the opportunity
to comment. |

I
finally finished the manuscript and really
enjoyed it. As a biker for 30 years and
a neurologist I found the descriptions of
why we do what we do when riding spot on.
The riding exercises provided should enhance
the riding skills of novices and veteran
bikers alike, making this book a must read.
I look forward to seeing the final product
in print. |

"I'm
a 73 year old who faced re-licensing process
after an accident and Disciplined Attention helped
me to effectively pay attention to the
road BEFORE I got in front of an examiner.
I would recommend this book to anyone who
has had a crash. I got my license with
no problem but am a better driver from
your book and my teacher. Everyone should
take a refresher course after 65." |

“Dr.
Ken Mills does an outstanding job of
communicating
the importance and need for drivers to
utilize strict attention while involved
in motor
vehicle operations. His expertise in both
the mental and physical challenges of
vehicle
operations is evident in this particular
reading. In addition to scientific data
he also has incorporated practical exercises
that can be practiced and implemented
by
persons who posses very elementary driving
skills. As a law enforcement officer
who
has instructed precision and pursuit driving
to other law enforcement officers for
over
14 years I found that Dr. Mills' was on
point in both theory and philosophy.” |

I
have reviewed Disciplined Attention: How
to Improve Your Visual Attention When You
Drive I thoroughly enjoyed the
book and would highly recommend it to
any driving instructor. I would also recommend
the book to anyone that operated a motor
vehicle of any type. I
have always been taught that we rely
on our eyes for over 90%
of the information we need to control
a vehicle. Disciplined Attention: The
Art and Science of Good Driving explains
why “vision” is the foundation
of safe driving. The book also gives
exercises
that one can use to improve their visual
input.
Thank
you for allowing me the opportunity
to
preview this “life saving material.”
